How to Draw Richard Watterson
Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Richard Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a big circle near the top of the page as a guide for Richard Watterson's head. The circle doesn't have to be perfect. It's just a guide. Leave some room at the bottom for the rest of the body.
Step 2: Under the circle, draw a rectangle-like shape as a guide for Richard Watterson's body. The sides of the rectangle should be as wide as the width of the circle. The bottom of the rectangle should be below the circle only by a little bit.
Step 3: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the top part of the head, one vertical and one horizontal. The vertical construction line should end at the rectangle. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape of the circle. These will be construction lines that will help you place Richard Watterson's facial features later on.
Step 4: Draw two small circles as guides for Richard Watterson's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line
Step 5: On top of Richard Watterson's head, on the left side, draw two short lines as guides for the ears.
