Intro: When learning how to draw this The Simpsons character, start with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don't press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 1

Step 1: To draw Homer Simpson, start by drawing a huge circle that takes up most of the page's space. Draw it closer to the right edge of the paper. This circle will more or less be Homer's head.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 2

Step 2: Next draw two intersecting lines across the circle. When drawing the lines, bend them so they follow the contour shape of a sphere. Draw the horizontal line in the middle, but draw the vertical one just to the left of the middle. These will be construction lines that will help you place Homer Simpson's features later on.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 3

Step 3: Draw a small circle just to the right of the vertical construction line and above the horizontal construction line. This will be Homer Simpson's right eye. Draw another circle about the same size to the left, and make it slightly overlap the first circle, like a Venn diagram. This will be Homer's left eye.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 4

Step 4: Draw an oval below the left eye to make Homer Simpson's nose. Draw the oval so it starts where the two eyes meet. Extend the oval through the left eye and below the horizontal construction line.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 5

Step 5: Now draw an even bigger oval that starts where the original construction lines meet. The oval will extend to the bottom of the main circle, and it will come out from it slightly on the lower left-hand side. Draw a horizontal construction line to divide the oval in half. You've just learned how to draw Homer Simpson's face guides.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 6

Step 6: Now learn how to draw this The Simpson's character's head. Draw an upside-down U that begins near the top left of the left eye. The curve of the U shape will graze the top of the main circle, and it will finally touch down on the horizontal construction line. This will be Homer Simpson's head.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 7

Step 7: Now draw a backwards C where you left off on Homer's head. Below that C, draw a line that extends to the bottom of the main circle. This will be Homer Simpson's ear and neck.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 8

Step 8: That's it for the initial sketch of Homer Simpson from the cartoon The Simpsons! You have learned how to draw this The Simpson's character's basic shape. Now you will go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 9

Step 9: Start tightening your drawing by darkening Homer Simpson's nose. When drawing his nose, dip the top line of the oval a bit to give it a better shape. Do not darken the right side of the nose (where the nose meets his face).

Draw Homer Simpson Step 10

Step 10: Now darken in Homer's eyes. Start with his right eye and continue with the left, making sure you don't darken in the parts of the circle that overlaps his mouth or right eye.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 11

Step 11: When you go in to darken the lines that make up Homer Simpson's mouth, start by connecting the bottom line on the right of his nose to the oval that makes his mouth. Homer's '"chin" or lower part of his mouth will touch the bottom of the main circle and come up along its edge a bit. Draw a small bump for his lower lip. Draw Homer's smile by following the mouth oval's horizontal line as a guide for where his teeth should be. Draw Homer's top lip out to the left edge of the circle guide, and draw another bump for his upper lip. Finally, draw three vertical lines, one of which is the main vertical construction line, to make Homer Simpson's teeth. Now you've learned how to draw this The Simpson's character's mouth.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 12

Step 12: Tighten the shape of Homer's head by following the guide, but draw a bump over his left eye that represents to represent his eyebrow. Also draw a curve that connects his left eye to his mouth, which represents the other side of Homer's face.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 13

Step 13: Darken in Homer's ear and draw a small curvy T shape within his ear to represent the inside of his ear. After you tighten the line below his ear, draw another small line below his chin to represent the left side of his neck.

Draw Homer Simpson Step 14

Step 14: Now learn how to draw the hair of this cartoon character from The Simpsons. Draw two upside-down Us on top of his head to give Homer Simpson his comb over. Finally, draw a tilted M above his ear.
