The written step-by-step video tutorial:
Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Draw a big oval near the top of the paper as a guide for Porky Pig's head. First make four marks to determine the oval's height and width. Then connect the marks using curved lines. Make sure that the marks for the sides of the oval are farther apart than the marks for the top and bottom. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. Leave enough room at the bottom for this Looney Tunes character's body.
Step 2: Below the head, draw a curved line for the chubby cheeks. Make a small mark below Porky Pig's head and then connect the mark to the head using curved lines.
Step 3: Draw a horizontal line across the bottom of the oval as a construction guide to help you place Porky Pig's facial features later. Draw a curved, vertical line on the top, right side for another construction guide.
Step 4: Draw a circle below the head as a guide for the bottom half of the body. Draw this circle using the four-marks method too. This circle should be smaller than the head. Don't place this circle too far away from the head, otherwise Porky Pig's body will be too long. Draw two short lines that connect this circle to the head as guides for the top part of the body.
Step 5: Draw a diagonal line on the top, left side of the body as a guide for the first arm. At the end of the line, draw a small oval as a guide for Porky Pig's first hand. On the right side of the cheek, draw a small line that slopes upward as a guide for the other arm. At the end of the guide, draw a small circle as a guide for the other hand.
Step 6: On the bottom, left side of the body, draw a curved, vertical line as a guide for the first leg of this Looney Tunes character. At the end of the line, draw a small oval as a guide for the first foot. To the right, draw similar shapes as the guides for Porky Pig's other leg and foot. The vertical line for the leg should be smaller. The oval at the bottom should slope to the right.
That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more defined drawing.
Step 7: Inside the head, draw two thin, tall arcs on top of the horizontal guide for Porky Pig's eyes. Use the initial construction lines as guides for the size and placement of the eyes. The eye on the right should be shorter and thinner than the eye on the left because of the way the head is turned. Draw a short, curved, horizontal line under the eye on the left for the top part of the cheek.
Step 8: Below the eyes, closer to the eye on the right, draw a small, triangular shape for Porky Pig's nose. The nose should be triangular, but the sides and corners should be curved, especially the bottom edge. Draw a small line above the nose. Inside the nose, draw two small, oval-like shapes for the nostrils.
Step 9: Inside each eye, on the bottom, left side, draw a small oval for the pupils. Shade the pupils. Don't overlap the nose as you shade the pupil on the right. Draw a few curved lines above the eyes for Porky Pig's brows.
Step 10: To the left of the nose, draw a curved, horizontal line for the cheek. Below the nose, draw a couple of curved lines for Porky Pig's open mouth. The left side of the mouth should touch the cheek. The bottom part of the mouth should dip low. Inside the mouth, draw two short, curved lines for the tongue.
Step 11: On the top, left side of the head, draw a small line that's similar to an upside-down letter V for the ear. Curve the sides of the ear. Within the shape, draw a couple of lines for the inner ear structure. Use the initial oval and curve line under it as guide to draw the shape of this Looney Tunes character's head. Darken the outer edges of the initial guides to create the shape of the head. Make the top, right side of the head wider than the initial oval. Don't overlap the ear as you draw the head. Curve the lines at the bottom to connect to the cheeks. The bottom part of the head should be flat. Draw a curved line under the mouth for Porky Pig's lower lip. Draw a short, curved line on the top, right side for the other ear peeking from behind the head.
Step 12: Draw three small arcs on the oval to the left of the body for Porky Pig's fingers. Spread the small arcs along the edge of the initial oval. The one on the side should be smaller for the pinky. Draw a smaller arc on the right edge for the thumb. Add two curved lines at the bottom for the palm.
Step 13: Use the line on top of the hand on the left as a guide to draw the arm. Follow the path of the guide and draw the shape of the arm around it. Curve the top part for the shoulder. Under the head, draw Porky Pig's bow by using a couple of curved, triangular shapes. Curve the sides of the bow to indicate the folds on the cloth. Draw a short, curved line in the middle for the knot.
Step 14: Draw a long, curved line on the left side of the body for the first part of Porky Pig's coat. On the right side of the body, draw a thin, rectangular shape for the other side of the open coat. Draw the shape of the arm around the line to the right of the head. The bottom of the arm should connect to the coat. Curve the lines at the top around the small circle. Draw a short, curved line for the sleeve's opening.
Step 15: Draw a short arc on the top, left side of the small circle for the thumb. Draw three curved lines to the right of the circle for the fingers. Don't make the fingers too long. Draw a curved line inside the circle for the palm. This is Porky Pig's classic "That's all folks!" stance.
Step 16: Darken the lower part of the oval on the lower, left side for this Looney Tunes character's first foot. Draw a couple of curved, vertical lines around the guide to create the shape of the leg. Connect the foot to the leg and darken a bit of the circle at the top for the body. Inside the foot, draw a line for Porky Pig's hoof.
Step 17: Use the shapes on the right as guides to draw the other leg the same way. Draw curved lines around the guide for the leg. Darken a bit of the circle at the top for the body. Darken the oval for the foot and connect the leg to it. Inside the foot, draw a curved line for the hoof. On the left side of the body, draw a couple of short, curved lines for the curly tail.
Step 18: Go over the final sketch lines with a pen, marker or any other type of permanent ink. Take your time and be careful when you ink to avoid any accidents. After the ink dries, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser for a cleaner drawing.
Final Step: Color your Porky Pig drawing using colored pencils, markers or crayons! Use peach for the skin. Color the inside of the mouth brown and the tongue pink. Use red for this Looney Tunes character's bow tie and blue for the coat. Use black for the hooves. Don't forget to pause the video after each step to draw at your own pace.
