Below you can watch a NEW step-by-step tutorial with NARRATED steps:

The following is an older video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

How to Draw Luigi Step 1

Step 1: To draw Luigi, start with a long, skinny oval. This will be the basic shape for Luigi's head.

How to Draw Luigi Step 2

Step 2: Inside the oval, draw two intersecting lines, one vertical and one horizontal. Draw the vertical line close to the right edge of the circle and draw the horizontal line near the middle. These are construction lines that will help you place Luigi's features later on.

How to Draw Luigi Step 3

Step 3: Starting where the two construction lines meet, draw a slightly egg-shaped circle on the right side of the main oval. Extend the egg shape to the outside of the main circle. This is the basic shape for Luigi's nose.

How to Draw Luigi Step 4

Step 4: On top of the horizontal construction line and to the left of the vertical construction line, draw a small oval. On the other side of the vertical construction line, draw an arc that follows the same shape as the other small oval and make it sit on top of his nose. These will be the eyes of this Mario Brothers video game character.

How to Draw Luigi Step 5

Step 5: Draw a big C shape on the left side of the main oval that begins at the horizontal line. This will be Luigi's ear.

How to Draw Luigi Step 6

Step 6: Luigi's hat is basically two arcs. Draw one arc starting on the left side of the main oval slightly above Luigi's ear. It extends up and to the right to the outside of the oval. It then curves back down and in to touch the oval again. The other arc starts on top of the main oval, goes out to the left and ends on top of Luigi's ear.

How to Draw Luigi Step 7

Step 7: That's it for the initial sketch of Nintendo's Luigi video game character! You have the basic Luigi shape, so now you will go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

How to Draw Luigi Step 8

Step 8: Darken the shape of Luigi's nose except for the left side of the nose shape.

How to Draw Luigi Step 9

Step 9: On the bottom left side of Luigi's nose, draw a small horizontal line. Below that line draw a wide, curved W-shaped line that goes to the right side of the nose. This is Luigi's moustache.

How to Draw Luigi Step 10

Step 10: Draw Luigi's mouth as the shape of the letter D on its side. Inside that D shape, draw a line near the top for his teeth and a curve near the bottom for his tongue. Draw a lower lip by adding a U-shaped curve under his mouth.

How to Draw Luigi Step 11

Step 11: Darken in the shape of Luigi's eyes. Draw two curved lines inside each of his eyes for his irises. Inside each curve, draw small ovals for his pupils. Shade in Luigi's pupils but leave a small circle near the top unshaded to represent glare.

How to Draw Luigi Step 12

Step 12: Above each eye, draw two crescent moon shapes on their sides. These will be Luigi's eyebrows. Draw the right eyebrow narrower than the left because of the curvature of Luigi's face.

How to Draw Luigi Step 13

Step 13: Darken in the shape of Luigi's ear and make it come inside the circle a bit. Draw two curved lines within the ear shape to represent the inside of Luigi's ear.

How to Draw Luigi Step 14

Step 14: The hat is a bit tricky, so this section about how to draw Luigi's hat is broken down into two steps. First darken in the curve above Luigi's face. Below that curve draw a line that goes behind the right eyebrow and ends near the top of the curve you just drew and just outside of the main oval. Now draw a small line from the vertical construction line to the right eyebrow.

How to Draw Luigi Step 15

Step 15: Tighten the top of Luigi's hat by drawing along the original curve but dip it slightly inward near the back above his ear. Draw a circle on the front of the hat and a letter L within the circle.

How to Draw Luigi Step 16

Step 16: Tighten the shape of Luigi's head by darkening in the main oval shape. Curve it near the bottom for his chin. Draw a small line below Luigi's chin to indicate his neck and a longer line below the bottom of his ear to indicate the left side of his neck.

How to Draw Luigi Step 17

Step 17: For Luigi's sideburn, draw a long U-shaped curve that starts at the top of his ear, goes downward and curves back up to reach the edge of his hat. Draw a line that looks like a wide, curved W on its side below his ear and on the left side of his neck. This is the back of Luigi's hair.

How to Draw Luigi Step 18

Step 18: That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Nintendo's Luigi. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.

How to Draw Luigi Step 19

Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Luigi from Nintendo's Mario Brothers video games! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Luigi drawing.

How to Draw Luigi Step Last

Final Step: For a completely finished Luigi drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Luigi's cap and the L shape on the cap green. His hair should be brown, while his eyebrows, moustache and the inside of his mouth are black. Luigi's eyes are blue, and his tongue is red. His skin is a peach color like the Princess! If you don't have peach, then improvise! Use light orange or pink, or anything that looks good. Experiment! That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Luigi from Nintendo's Mario Brothers video games.
