The written step-by-step video tutorial:

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 1

Step 1: Draw a small circle at the top of the page as a guide for Judy Hopps' head. First draw four marks for the height and width of the circle, then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that if you don't get the shape right, it'll be easier to erase. Don't worry if the circle isn't perfect. It's just a guide. If you would still like a perfect circle, you can just trace the edge of a coin or anything circular.

Step 2: Draw two curved intersecting lines inside the head, one horizontal and one vertical. These construction lines will help you place Judy's facial features later.

Step 3: Draw two thin, long arcs on top of the head as guides for Judy Hopps' ears. The height of these arcs should be about the same size as the length of the circle. The arcs should be close to each other, and their shape should be similar to an upside- down letter U. Place the arcs slightly on the right side of the head, not directly in the middle.

Step 4: Draw a thin, long triangle under the head as a guide for the top part of Judy Hopps' body. Start with a short horizontal line at the top, then add two long diagonal lines underneath. Pay attention to the length of the triangle in relation to Judy's head.

Step 5: Now draw the guide for the bottom part of Judy's body as a series of lines under the long triangle. This shape should also be similar to a triangle but with the top part hidden.

Step 6: Draw a line similar to the letter V as a guide for the arm on the left. Add a small circle on the tip of the line as a guide for Judy Hopps' hand. Now draw an angled line similar to a greater-than sign (>) as a guide for the arm on the right. Add a small half-circle on the end of the line as a guide for the other hand.

Step 7: Draw two long lines under the body as guides for Judy's legs. These lines should be almost as long as the entire body , and they should be slanted a bit. At the end of each line, draw a half-oval as a guide for the feet. The foot on the right will be facing forward, so that half-oval should be narrower.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more finished drawing.

Step 8: Lightly sketch the eyes inside the head. Use the construction lines to help with placement. Judy's eyes should be right above the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical line. The shape of the eyes should be simlar to an egg. The eye on the left should be a bit smaller because of perspective.

When you get the shape and placement of Judy Hopps' eyes right, darken the lines. Make the lines thicker as well as making them darker. Add a series of quick, short strokes above each eye to represent the eyelashes. There should be little spacing between the lines to give the appearance of fuller eyelashes.

Darken the shape of the eye on the right too and add the eyelashes. Don't draw any eyelashes in the bottom part of the eyes. Just make the lines thicker. Draw a small curved line above each eye for Judy's eyelids.

Step 9: Draw a small curved line inside the eye on the left for the iris. Draw a circle inside the eye on the right for the other iris. Inside each iris, near the top left side, draw a tiny circle to represent glare. In the middle of each iris, draw a bigger circle and shade it in for Judy's pupils. Draw the pupils small at first, then expand them to the size that you want them.

Step 10: Draw a thin, long shape above each eye for the eyebrows. The shape of the eyebrows is made up of individual hairs, so use quick, short strokes as you draw them. Judy Hopps' eyebrows should be placed near the inner edge of the initial circle. Follow the curvature of the circle as you draw them.

Step 11: Draw Judy's nose under the horizontal construction line. Start with a wavy line for the top of the nose. Then draw two diagonal lines underneath for the bottom part of the nose. The end result should be similar to a triangle. Add a curved line inside the nose, on each side, for the nostrils. Draw a curved line made up of quick, short strokes above the nose for the fur found there.

Step 12: Draw two curved lines under the nose for the top part of Judy Hopps' mouth. The lines should start out on the sides, then curve up in the middle, below the nose, where the vertical construction line is.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 13

Step 13: Draw a longer curved line under the top lip for the bottom part of the mouth. Add a smaller curved line inside the mouth, attached to the top lip , for Judy's front teeth. Draw a line through the middle to separate the teeth.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 14

Step 14: Use the initial circle as a guide to draw the shape of Judy Hopps' head. Use quick, short strokes as you follow the basic path of the circle to create a furry texture. Extend the left side of the head outside of the circle to create the shape of the cheek.

The line should extend toward the bottom to create the neck. The top, right side of Judy's head should be narrow, while the bottom should extend out again to create the other cheek. Don't forget to use quick, short strokes as you draw the shape of the head to get a furry texture.

Step 15: Use the arcs on top of the head as guides to draw Judy Hopps' ears. Use quick, short strokes as you follow the basic path of the guide to create the furry texture of the ears. Make the shape of the ears curvier as follow the initial arcs. The top part should be wider and the bottom narrower.

Step 16: Draw a similar curved line made up of short strokes inside each shape for Judy Hopps' inner ears. Use longer strokes for the side of the inner ear. The bottoms should end in a pointy tip.

Step 17: Draw the shirt's collar as a curved line on the right side of the neck. Extend the line to the right and make it curve up on the left side of the neck for the other side of the collar. Add a rectangle- like shape on either side of the collar for Judy's vest straps. Draw a V-shaped line in between the straps for the top part of the vest.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 18

Step 18: Use the top part of the initial triangle as a guide to draw Judy's vest. Follow the basic path of the guide as you darken the line for the left side of the vest. Draw a curved horizontal line near the middle of the initial triangle for the bottom of the vest. Add a curved line similar to the letter C on the right side for the arm opening. Add a line under it for the hem.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 19

Step 19: Draw Judy Hopps' torso by first drawing the sides as you follow the path of the guides. Draw a curved line near the bottom of the initial triangle guide for the top of the pants. Add the badge on the upper, right side of the vest. The shape of the badge is similar to the letter W at the top with a curved U- shaped line underneath.

Step 20: Right under the top of the pants, draw the belt. First draw a thick C-shaped line for Judy's buckle and a small oval near the middle for the prong. Then draw a few lines on either side of the buckle for the belt's sections.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 21

Step 21: Draw a few utility pouches on either side of the belt. The pouches are basically made up of rectangles with the corners rounded off. Add a curved line at the top for the covering flap. Draw pouches of different sizes to add variety to what Judy carries. The row of pouches and the belt should curve up and follow the same path as the top of the pants.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 22

Step 22: Draw the arm on the left by using the initial V- shaped line as a guide. Draw the wrist cover right under the initial circle by creating a cylindrical shape. Now draw the rest of Judy Hopps' arm by following the basic path of the guide but making the shape thicker.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 23

Step 23: Draw the hand on the left by using the small circle as a guide. Draw Judy's thumb as a small arc on the right side of the circle. Draw the fingers as three longer arcs near the top edge of the circle. Make the fingers round and wide and right next to each other.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 24

Step 24: Use the line and circle on the right side of the body to draw Judy Hopps' other arm. Make the shape of the arm thicker as you follow the basic path of the guide. The wrist should be thinner than the top of the arm. Draw a curved line on the forearm for the wrist cover. The hand is folded back, so only draw the visible portion of the fingers as small curved lines.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 25

Step 25: Use the lines under the body as guides to draw Judy's legs. Draw a small triangle with rounded corners about halfway on the guide for the knee pads. Add the sides of the left pant leg by drawing vertical lines that follow the path of the guide. The top of the pant leg should be wide, and the bottom should be very narrow.

Now draw the left side of the right pant leg as a long vertical line. Add Judy's knee pad about halfway up the guides as a small triangle with rounded corners. Finish the right leg by drawing a curved line on the top, right side for the hip.

Draw Judy Hopps Zootopia 26

Step 26: Draw a small rectangle-like shape right under the pant leg for the rolled up cuff. Use the half-oval as a guide to draw Judy Hopps' foot. Follow the basic path of the shape to create the foot. Draw a couple of curved lines on the left side for the toes and a curved line in the middle for the foot sleeve.

Draw Judy's foot on the right the same way. First draw the pant cuff as a rectangle-like shape. Darken the shape of the half-oval to create the foot sleeve and draw two short, curved lines at the front to separate the three toes.

Final Step: Color your drawing of Judy Hopps from Zootopia using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use black for the tips of Judy's ears and eyebrows. Color the fur gray but leave the section around the eyes and mouth blank. As you color the gray fur, use quick, short strokes for a furry texture. You can also separate each individual stroke more to let the white of the paper come through to further emphasize the fur. Continue adding the gray but don't forget to leave the section around the mouth blank.

Use pink for the inside section of Judy's ears and nose. Add dark red to the inside of the mouth. Color the eyes, vest and pants dark blue. Add the color lightly at first, then build up to the level that you like. To give the figure more dimension, the middle part of the body should be darker, while the sides should be lighter. Use black for the wrist covers, the pant cuffs, the foot sleeves and the belt. Color the fur on top of the foot gray, along with the knee pads and belt buckle. Use a lighter blue for the rest of Judy's shirt and add some light blue on her eyes too. Color the badge light brown or yellow.
