Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Draw a circle near the top of the paper as a guide for the bottom part of Baby Groot's head. First draw four small marks for the height and width of the circle, then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. The circle doesn't have to be perfect. It's just a guide. If you're struggling drawing the circle, trace the outer rim of a coin, a lid or any other object with a circular edge.

Step 2: Now add the guide for the top part of Groot's head by first drawing a short line on each side of the circle. Now close off the top by drawing a short, curved horizontal line.

Step 3: Draw a curved horizontal line across the circle. This construction line will help you place Baby Groot's facial features later. Add a longer vertical line across the entire head for another construction line.

Step 4: Draw the guide for the body by first drawing two short sloping lines near the bottom of the head. Now add two long vertical lines on the sides. Pay attention to their length in relation to Baby Groot's head. Finish the guide by drawing two lines at the bottom that come to a point and look similar to a wide letter V.

Step 5: Draw the guide for the arm on the left as two horizontal lines with a short vertical line on the left. Draw the guide for Groot's arm on the right the same way buy make it slope down more.

Step 6: At the edge of the arms, draw the guide for Groot's forearms using a similar shape to the arms but smaller. The forearm on the left should point upward more than the one on the right.

Step 7: At the end of each forearm, draw the guides for Baby Groot's hands as small half-circles. At the edge of each half-circle, draw a shape similar to the top of the head but smaller for the fingers.

Step 8: Below the torso, draw two U-shaped lines as guides for the top part of the legs. First draw the sloping sides, then the curved bottom. Pay attention to their size compared to the rest of Baby Groot's body.

Step 9: Add the guides for the bottom half of the legs by first drawing two long vertical lines with a shorter horizontal line at the bottom. The shapes should be wider at the bottom. Groot's leg on the right should slope a bit more.

That's it for the guides! For the next steps, use darker lines for a more finished Baby Groot drawing.

Step 10: Lightly sketch the eyeballs inside the head as two small ovals. Use the initial construction lines as guides for the placement of the eyes. When you get the size and shape of Baby Groot's eyes right, darken the lines. As you darken the lines, make the sides of the eyes pointier. Add a couple of curved lines around each eye for extra detail on the skin.

Step 11: Inside each eye, draw two tiny circles to represent glare. Inside each eye, draw a couple of curved lines similar to parentheses ( ) for the pupils. Now shade the inside of the pupils lightly. Don't shade inside the tiny circles that represent glare. Above each eye, draw a short, curved line for Groot's eyebrows.

Step 12: Draw the mouth under the eyes. Use the initial construction lines as guides for placement. The shape of the mouth should be similar to a thin letter D on its side. Draw two curved lines inside Groot's mouth: one at the top for the teeth and one at the bottom for the tongue.

Step 13: Draw the rest of Baby Groot's head using the initial shapes as guides. Darken the outer edges of the initial guides to create the shape of the head. Make the top half of the head a bit wider than the guides. As you darken the top part, follow the basic path of the guide but make the edge more jagged and bumpy. Make a few sections on the head a bit taller to give the top edge a more bark-like look.

Step 14: Add a few more lines at the top of the head to emphasize the bark-like texture. Don't draw these lines too far down toward Baby Groot's face. They should stop at the edge of the initial circle.

Step 15: Draw the top portion of the torso by first drawing two small lines under the head for the neck. Then add a jagged edge below the neck for the bark-like texture. Add a couple more jagged shapes on the sides of Groot's neck for more bark-like pieces.

Step 16: Use the rectangular shape on the left as a guide to draw the first part of Groot's arm. Darken the outer edges of the guide and add a couple of lines inside for the vine-like shapes. The shapes inside don't have to be exact, just as long as they look like vines or bark. You can add little leaves too.

Step 17: Draw Baby Groot's forearm the same way. Use the initial shape as a guide. You can start drawing the vine- like shapes on the inside first. Then finish off the shape by darkening the outer edges.

Step 18: Use the initial shape at the top as guides to draw the hand and fingers. On the bottom, right side, draw a shape similar to a rectangle with wonky sides for the thumb. Now use the guide at the very tip to draw the individual fingers as thin rectangular shapes. Be sure to make the pinky the smallest finger and finish the rest of Baby Groot's hand.

Step 19: Use the shapes on the right as guides to draw Baby Groot's other arm the same way. Draw a series of jagged shapes and vines within the edges of the guides. Don't overthink the shapes inside. Just add random long shapes within the initial guides. Curve the shapes so that they extend toward the forearm.

Step 20: Continue drawing the thin, long shapes into the forearm. You can add tiny leaves using a short line for the stem and a couple of ovals for the leaves. Now use the shapes at the tip to draw Groot's hand and fingers. As with the other side, start with the thumb. Draw the thumb as a wonky rectangle near the bottom, then add the other fingers starting at the top. Follow the path of the guide as you draw the individual fingers. The pinky at the bottom should be the smallest.

Step 21: Draw the chest by using the section under the head as a guide. Start by drawing a big shape on the right side for Baby Groot's bark-like chest. The shape doesn't have to be exact, but it should cover a big section of the torso. Add some lines inside. Add a smaller shape on the left side for the other side of the chest.

Step 22: Add another abnormal shape on the left side for more of the torso. Add another odd shape on the left within the initial guides. Remember, the shapes don't have to be exact. As long as Groot's face and the proportions are okay, then the shapes within the body shouldn't matter too much.

Step 23: Draw the rest of the torso within remaining space on the guide. Use the random shapes to fill in the section. Add lines on the edges for extra detail. The shapes within the torso should be bigger than the ones on the arms. Groot's torso is made up of big pieces of bark-like shapes that act as armor.

Step 24: Draw the first part of the leg on the left by using the initial U-shaped line as a guide. Use curved vine- like shapes within the guide to form Groot's leg.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 25

Step 25: Continue drawing the vine-like shapes within the U-shaped guide. The shapes in the appendages should be thin, long and vine-like, while the shapes in the torso should be more bark-like. The vines on Groot's legs should overlap one another.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 26

Step 26: Continue drawing the bottom half of the leg the same way. While the top should be vine-like, the bottom should be wide and stump-like. The bottom of Baby Groot's foot is divided into three sections. Draw the middle and left section first.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 27

Step 27: Now add the rightmost section of Groot's foot as a big shape. Draw more long, thin vines to connect to the top of the leg. Make sure everything stays within the guides. Add some leaves on the side using tiny ovals.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 28

Step 28: Use the U-shaped line as a guide to draw the top part of Baby Groot's other leg the same way. Use a series of thin, long shapes within the guide for the vines on the leg. Draw some of the vines overlapping each other.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 29

Step 29: Continue drawing shapes inside the guides for the middle part of the leg. Draw the shape wider the lower on the leg they are. The shapes on Groot's legs don't necessarily have to look like each other. Curve the shapes so that they follow the form of the initial guides.

How to Draw Baby Groot Full Body Guardians of the Galaxy 30

Step 30: Draw the rest of the leg and foot within the shape of the guide. The bottom part of the foot should be divided into three big pieces. Draw the ones on the left first. Add the bottom edge of the foot across the guide because the leg is slightly above the ground. Add the third section of Groot's foot on the right and the far edge of the lifted foot too.

Final Step: Color your Baby Groot drawing using color pencils, markers or even crayons! Use a bit of dark brown to emphasize the shadows and a bit of green at the top of the head. Now use light brown all over the rest of the body. Use dark brown for the shadows, dark red for the eyes, and black for the inside of the mouth. Use black lightly throughout the body to emphasize the shadows more. Use yellow-green for the top of the head and for the little leaves on Groot's body. Use more light brown on the body.
