Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Begin your Statue of Liberty drawing with two small half-circles for the eyes. The eye shape is basically a small arc with a line at the bottom. Don't draw the Statue of Liberty's eyes too far apart.

Step 2: Between the eyes, closer to the left eye, draw an angled line for the nose. The shape of the Statue of Liberty's nose should be similar to the letter L. Under the nose, draw a short line for the mouth. Under the mouth, draw a shorter line for the lip.

Step 3: Below the Statue of Liberty's face, draw a big, curved line for the bottom part of the head. This curved line should be similar to a big letter U. On the right side, draw a small, J-shaped line for the ear. At the top, draw three curved lines for the front part of the hair.

Step 4: At the top, draw a curved line for the top part of the head. This line should start to the left of the eyes and end to the right of the ear. At the top of the head, draw another curved line for the base of the Statue of Liberty's crown. The sides of this curved line should be flat.

Step 5: At the top, draw seven spikes for the rays on the Statue of Liberty's crown. The biggest spike should be in the middle, and the side spikes should be smaller because of perspective. The spikes should also tilt sideways the farther to the sides they are. The spikes on the right should be a bit bigger than the spikes on the left. The spikes are similar to a long letter V. You can turn your paper to make it easier to draw the Statue of Liberty's crown spikes.

Step 6: Draw a series of tiny squares inside the crown for the window openings. These windows should be pretty narrow. Below the ear, draw a line for the neck. Below the neck, draw a circle with a few lines inside for the knot on the robe. To the right, draw a line for the hair. Under the Statue of Liberty's head, finish the neck and top of the robe.

Step 7: On the lower, left side of the head, draw a series of curved lines for the sleeve on the Statue of Liberty's robe. Sketch lightly at first. When you get the shape of the robe sleeve right, darken the lines. The sleeve is made up of several curved lines to indicate the folds and wrinkles on the cloth.

Step 8: Above the sleeve, to the left of the head, draw two long, vertical lines for the arm. The Statue of Liberty's arm should be about as tall as the spikes on the crown. At the top, draw the thumb and fingers using a series of small, curved lines. The fingers are similar in shape to ovals. Below the fingers, draw a V- shaped line for the bottom of the Statue of Liberty's torch.

Step 13: To the right of the robes, draw the Statue of Liberty's tablet using a series of angled lines. The tablet should be rectangular . Add a few lines on the sides of it to make the shape thick. Leave a gap on the side of the tablet for the hand that will be holding it.

Step 14: Draw the hand holding the tablet in the space you left earlier. The Statue of Liberty's hand consists of a big, curved line at the bottom and four small, thin, curved lines at the top for the fingers. Below the hand, draw a series of curved lines for the other sleeve.

Step 15: Draw a couple of vertical lines at the bottom for the lower part of the Statue of Liberty's robe. Add a horizontal line at the bottom for the top part of the platform. Inside the shape, draw a few more vertical lines for more folds and wrinkles on the cloth. Add another line at the bottom to make the Statue of Liberty's base wider and thicker.

Step 16: Using a pen or marker, carefully draw over the lines to make your Statue of Liberty drawing permanent. After inking, get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser.

Final Step: Color your Statue of Liberty drawing using color pencils, markers or crayons! Use blue-green for the whole thing , except for the flame on the torch. If your Statue of Liberty is too blue, add some light green right on top of it. Add a bit of dark green to the sides to create shadows and make the statue more three- dimensional. Use yellow-orange for the flame. Don't forget to pause the video to draw at your own pace.
