How to Draw Vanellope

Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Vanellope from Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Draw Vanellope 1

Step 1: Start with a small circle near the bottom of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for Vanellope's head. Leave room at the top for the hair.

Draw Vanellope 2

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the head, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape of the circle. These will be construction lines that will help you place Vanellope's facial features later on.

Draw Vanellope 3

Step 3: Draw two small shapes similar to half-circles as guides for Vanellope's eyes. Draw them sitting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. The shape on the right should be a bit smaller because of perspective.

Step 4: On the left side of the head, draw a C-shaped line as a guide for Vanellope's ear.

Step 5: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Vanellope from Wreck-It Ralph. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 6: Darken the initial half-circles using thick lines to create Vanellope's eyes. On top of each eye, draw a few short, pointy, curved lines to represent the eyelashes.

Step 7: Inside each eye, draw a circle for the irises. Inside each iris, draw a tiny circle off to the side to represent glare. In the middle of each iris, draw another circle and shade it in for Vanellope's pupils.

Step 8: On top of each eye, draw a long thin shape to for Vanellope's eyebrows. The eyebrow on the left should be closer to the eye. The eyebrow on the right should be higher up and should curve more.

Step 9: Under the section where the two construction lines intersect, draw a small oval for Vanellope's nose.

Step 10: Just below Vanellope's nose, draw a long wavy line that curls up for the upper lip.

Step 11: Under Vanellope's upper lip, draw two smaller lines that curve up for the bottom lip.

Draw Vanellope 12

Step 12: Use the main circle as a guide to draw Vanellope's face. The line for the side of the face starts near the eyebrow on the right, then moves down and out a bit to form the cheek. After that, just follow the the basic path of the bottom edge of the main circle as you darken the line to create Vanellope's chin and jaw.

Step 13: Vanellope's hair is a bit tricky, so it's divided into a few parts. First draw the front left part of the hair or the bangs. Draw the top portion of the bangs by darkening the left edge of the main circle. Then add a series of curved, spiky lines across the top part of the eyebrow on the left and down to the lower left side.

Draw Vanellope 14

Step 14: Now draw the right side of Vanellope's bangs in a similar way. Use the to edge of the main circle to draw the top part of the bangs. The right side should be closer to Vanellope's face and end in a couple of curved spikes. The lower part of the bangs should be high above the eyebrow on the right.

Step 15: Use the C-shaped line on the left side as a guide to draw Vanellope's ear. Draw a couple of curved lines within the shape for the ear's structure. Draw another curved line on the left side of the head for the other ear and two tiny lines under the head for the neck.

Step 16: Back to Vanellope's hair! Draw the left portion of the hair in the back using a long, curved line that starts on top of the ear, moves across the top part of the head and ends on top, a little to the left of the vertical construction line. Add two curved lines within the shape for extra detail.

Draw Vanellope 17

Step 17: Now add two more curved lines to the right of the previous lines to complete the rest of the back portion of Vanellope's hair.

Step 18: Vanellope uses what appears to be a Twizzler as a hair tie. To draw it, first draw a wide curved line sitting on top of the head. Then draw two thick shapes using a couple of curved lines on top of that for the ends of the Twizzler.

Draw Vanellope 19

Step 19: It wouldn't be a Twizzler if it wasn't twisted. To draw the twists, simply draw a series of curved lines inside the shapes.

Step 20: Finally finish up the pony tail portion of the hair. Vanellope ties her hair up high, so start the line for the hair on top of the hair tie, then curve it out and down, and end it below the ear in a curved spike. Draw a couple of shorter lines between the Twizzler and the head for the under part of Vanellope's pony tail.

Step 21: Decorate Vanellope's hair with candy! Simply add circles and ellipses of different sizes all over the hair. You don't have to draw it exactly the same as this. Just sprinkle the candy randomly all over the hair.

Step 22: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Vanellope from Disney's Wreck-It Ralph. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.

Step 23: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then erase all of the pencil marks. You now have a finished inked drawing of Vanellope! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Vanellope drawing in its entirety.

Final Step: For a completely finished Vanellope drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Vanellope's hair and eyebrows black but be careful not to overlap the candy in the hair with black. Color the candy in her hair pink, red, blue, green and any other color you want! The Twizzler is red. Her eyes are light brown with a bit of green. Her skin is peach, but if you don't have peach, improvise and use yellow-orange or light brown. Her nose and lips are pink. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Vanellope from Disney's Wreck-It Ralph.
