How to Draw Eeyore

Use the video and step-by-step drawing instructions below to learn how to draw Eeyore from Walt Disney's Winnie-the-Pooh. A new cartoon drawing tutorial is uploaded every week, so stay tooned!

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

Step 1: Start by drawing a small circle near the left side of the page as a guide for the top part of Eeyore's head. Leave enough room on the right side for the rest of the body.

Step 2: Now draw a U-shaped line on the bottom of the circle as a guide for the lower half of Eeyore's head. The curve of the line should tilt toward the right a little. Both of these shapes combined form Eeyore's head.

Step 3: Next, draw two intersecting lines, one vertical and one horizontal, across the entire head shape. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape of Eeyore's head. The vertical line cuts across only the top circle, while the horizontal line extends down to both shapes. These will be construction lines that will help you place Eeyore's facial features later on.

Step 4: Draw two small oval-like shapes as guides for Eeyore's eyes. Draw them siting on top of the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line.

Step 5: On the left side of Eeyore's head, draw a long curved line as a guide for the ear. The ear on the other side will be mostly hidden by the face.

Step 6: On the right side of the head, draw a circle as a guide for the lower part of Eeyore's body. The circle should be big. Draw it big enough so that the entire head would be able to fit inside. Pay attention to the placement of the circle too. If you place it too far away, Eeyore will be too long.

Step 7: Now draw a couple of lines that connect the circle to the head to form the rest of Eeyore's body. The top line should be a bit wavy, and the bottom line should curve down. Add a line on the right side too as a guide for Eeyore's tail.

Step 8: Underneath the front part of Eeyore's body, draw two curved lines as guides for the front legs. The lines should be similar to the letter U. Eeyore has short, stubby legs, so don't draw the guides too long.

Step 9: Add another pair of U-shaped lines on the right side of the body as a guide for the hind legs. They should be around the same size as the ones in front.

Step 10: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Eeyore shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

Step 11: Use the initial oval-like shapes as guides to draw Eeyore's eyes. Add a line near the middle of the eyes to indicate the half-closed eyelids and darken the lower part of the shapes for the rest of the eyes. Add a couple of lines on the top and bottom for the wrinkles and bags under his eyes.

Step 12: Inside each eye, draw an oval and shade it in for the pupils. On top of each eye, draw a long, thick shape for Eeyore's eyebrows. Draw the eyebrows with a diagonal orientation for that classic droopy look.

Step 13: Use the U-shaped line under the main circle as a guide to draw Eeyore's muzzle. Follow the basic shape of the guides as you darken the lines. Add an extra line at the bottom for the smiling mouth. Above the mouth, draw two small shapes for the nostrils.

Step 14: Darken the sides of the guides to create Eeyore's head. Add a line across the middle of the head by using the vertical construction line as a guide to draw the stitching on the face.

Step 15: Use the curved line on the left side of Eeyore's head as a guide to draw the ear. Follow the basic path of the guide but make it pointier. Add a line across the middle for the inside portion of the ear. Draw the ear on the other side as well but only draw the visible portion since most of it is hiding behind the head.

Step 16: Using a series of curved lines, draw the front part of Eeyore's mane that sits on top of the head. The curved lines should come to a point to from clumps of hair. The top part of these lines should sit outside of the main circle.

Step 17: Use the U-shaped line under the left part of the body to draw the front leg on this side. Follow the basic path of the guide as you darken the line but when you get to the bottom, bend the shape forward a bit. Use a few small lines to create the creases in the cloth. Draw another curved line near the bottom that represents the stitching.

Step 18: Draw Eeyore's hind leg the same way. Follow the basic path of the guide and bend the tip forward to create the foot. Extend the top of the leg high up inside the body. Add the line near the bottom for the stitching.

Step 19: Use the remaining U-shaped lines as guides to draw Eeyore's legs on the other side of the body. Don't forget to bend the tips forward and add the stitching.

Step 20: Use the line on the right side as a guide to draw Eeyore's tail. Draw the tack that fastens the tail to the body as a circle and a couple of lines. Thicken up the shape of the tail by following the path of the guide. Near the bottom, draw the crooked bow using a series of curved lines. At the very bottom, draw the furry tail by using a series of curved lines that come to a point.

Step 21: Darken the rest of the guides to create Eeyore's body. On the upper left side, above the head, draw a series of curved lines to create the mane that extends toward the back.

Step 22: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Eeyore. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the step below.

Step 23: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked drawing of Eeyore! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Eeyore drawing.

Final Step: For a completely finished Eeyore drawing, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons! Eeyore's mane and and tip of the tail are black. The main part of his body is dark gray. The bottom of the feet and muzzle are light gray. If you don't have two shades of gray, simply apply less pressure on your pencil for a lighter shade. The inside of his ears and the bow on his tail are pink. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Eeyore from Walt Disney's Winnie-the-Pooh.
