How to Draw Mike Wazowski

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.
Step 1: Start by drawing a circle near the middle of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for Mike Wazowski’s head/body.
Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the circle, one vertical and one horizontal. The horizontal line should dip a little in the middle. The end result will look like the crosshairs on a scope. These construction lines will help you place Mike Wazowski's facial features later on.
Step 3: Draw a small circle sitting on top of the horizontal construction line as a guide for Mike Wazowski's single eye. The vertical line should split the circle evenly in two.
Step 4: Under the horizontal construction line, draw a shape similar to a sideways letter D as a guide for Mike Wazowski's mouth.
Step 5: On either side of the body, draw two angled lines as guides for Mike Wazowski's hands. The line on the left should point up, and the other should drop down to the side of the body. Draw a small circle at the end of each line for this Monsters Inc character's hands. Draw three small lines to the circle on the left for the fingers.
Step 6: Under Mike Wazowski's body, draw two curved lines as guides for the legs. At the end of each leg, draw an oval as a guide for his monster feet.
Step 7: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic Mike Wazowski shape. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.
Step 8: Use the initial circle as a guide to draw Mike Wazowski's single monster eye. Shape the eye as you darken the guide line. Make the eye a little bit wider at the bottom. Draw a couple of lines on top and below the eye for his eyelid and wrinkles.
Step 9: Draw a smaller circle inside Mike Wazowski's eye for his iris. Inside that circle, draw an even smaller circle and shade it in for his pupil. On the side of that small circle, draw an even tinier circle to represent glare.
Step 10: Use the initial D-shape as a guide to draw Mike Wazowski's mouth. Darken the guide lines and draw a small line on the sides of the mouth as smile lines. Draw a small line on the top and bottom as extra detail.
Step 11: Inside Mike Wazowski's mouth, draw a row of triangle-like shapes on the top and bottom for his monster teeth. The teeth shouldn't be pointy; draw them with a rounded top.
Step 12: Draw two small triangle-like shapes on top of Mike Wazowski's head for the horns.
Step 13: Use the lines on the left side as guides to draw Mike Wazowski's arm, hand and fingers. Follow the basic path of the line and as you give the arm girth. Use the circle at the end to create the hand and follow the path of the smaller lines to create the skinny fingers.
Step 14: Draw the hand on the right the same way. Follow the basic path and make the arm thicker. Draw Mike Wazowski's hand and fingers at the bottom.
Step 15: Use the line and oval on the bottom left to draw the left leg and foot if this Monsters Inc character. Follow the path of the line and make the leg thicker, especially at the base. Draw the feet and three toes at the end. On the tip of each toe, draw a pointy shape for Mike Wazowski's toenails.
Step 16: Draw the leg and foot on the right the same way. Give Mike Wazowski's leg more girth, and then add the foot and toes. Don't forget the toenails at the end!
Step 17: Use the main circle as a guide to draw Mike Wazowski's body. Mike's body isn't a perfect circle. The sides above the arms taper in toward his monster horns.
Step 18: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of Mike Wazowski. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.
Step 19: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then erase your pencil marks. Final Step: For a completely finished Mike Wazowski drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Color Mike's skin yellow-green.
