Start with Simple Lines and Shapes

Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake.

 

Step 1: Start by sketching a big circle near the top half of the page. This will be the basic shape for Rumi's head. The circle doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide.

DRAWING TIP: To draw a circle, first draw four small marks for the height and width of the circle, and then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. But the circles don't have to be perfect. They're just guides.

Under the circle, sketch a curved line as a guide for drawing this Huntr/x singer's lower jaw and chin later on. Notice that there is a bit of a point to the line near the bottom for the chin. It also bends a bit at the sides for Rumi's jaw.

 

Step 2: Add two intersecting lines across the entire head shape, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape. These construction lines will help you place Rumi's facial features later on.

Below the head, create Rumi's neck with a series of straight lines. Finally, sketch the curved shape of the one ear that will be visible in the final drawing. With this three-quarter view, this Huntr/x singer's other ear will not be visible.

Step 3: This KPop Demon Hunters character is wearing her trademark hairstyle, which is a dragon braid mohawk or Dutch braid. Here you can see the beginning of the voluminous braid on top Rumi's head, as well as the slicked-up hair on the sides of her head.

That’s it for the initial sketch! You have sketched the basic shape of Rumi, the lead singer of Huntr/x from KPop Demon Hunters. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

 

Now Add Details

Step 4: Draw Rumi's eye shapes just above the horizontal construction line and on either side of the vertical construction line. Indicate her long eyelashes on the tops of her eyes. Note the shapes of the eyes aren't exactly the same because we are viewing this Kpop Demon Hunters character at a slight angle.

Step 5: For Rumi's eyebrows, draw two parallel lines above each eye that comes to a point at the sides. Then, inside each eye, draw a big circle for this KPop Demon Hunter's irises. Inside each iris, draw the large pupil circle and shade it in. Make sure to leave a small circle of white inside each iris on the left sides to represent glare.

Step 6: Sketch Rumi's nose and mouth where the vertical construction guide meets the bottom of the initial circle. The nose is small and is made of curved lines to show the curved tip and nostrils. The mouth is another series of smooth, curved lines. Her lips are slightly parted.

 

Keep Building the Drawing Slowly

Step 7: Use the curved line on the side of Rumi's head to draw her ear. Darken the guide and add a few curved lines within the shape to create the inner ear structure. Give her a small earring on the earlobe.

Then use the original circle and jaw line as a guide to draw the rest of this KPop Demon Slayer character's head. Simply follow the path of the guides and darken the line all the way around. The line curves a bit toward her mouth and eye, so pay close attention to Rumi's face shape as you draw this smooth line. Use a light, smooth pencil line and darken it once you get the shape just right.

Step 8: Now draw the top of Rumi's voluminous dragon braid mohawk or Dutch braid. The hair is clumped together high above the head in sections.

Step 9: With not-so-smooth lines, add the rest of the visible hair on Rumi's head. Sketch in the hairline above her forehead, the top of her head, the triangle of baby hairs by her ear, and the visible portion of her long braid below her ear.

 

Step 10: Now add this Huntr/x singer's neck, necklace, shirt, and jacket collar. This is a simplified drawing, but feel free to add the pendant on her necklace!

That's it! You now have a nice sketch of Rumi, the lead singer of Huntr/x from KPop Demon Hunters! You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look or go for a more finished look by continuing to the next step.

 

Now It's Time to Ink & Color

Step 11: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then get rid of every pencil mark with an eraser. You now have a finished inked rendering of Rumi from KPop Demon Hunters! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Rumi drawing.

 

Final Step: For a completely finished drawing of Rumi, you have to color it. You can use markers, color pencils or even crayons!

Color Rumi's hair and eyebrows purple, adding highlights to it with light and darker shades. She has brown eyes (make sure not to overlap the white glare circles in her eyes as you add color!), pink lips, and a light complexion. Note the shadows on her face, where you should add a slightly darker color. She has a white shirt, silver necklace (and pendant if you chose to draw that), and a yellow jacket with a black collar.

That's it! You now have a completed drawing of Rumi, the lead singer of Huntr/x from KPop Demon Hunters!
