Intro: Start off with a pencil sketch. In the beginning stages, don’t press down too hard. Use light, smooth strokes for sketching.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 1

Step 1: Start by drawing a big oval at the top of the page. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It’s just a guide for Darwin Watterson’s head.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 2

Step 2: Next, draw two intersecting lines across the oval, one vertical and one horizontal. Bend the lines so that they contour to the shape. These will be construction lines that will help you place Darwin Watterson’s facial features later on.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 3

Step 3: Draw two big ovals sitting on top of the horizontal construction line as guides for Darwin Watterson’s eyes. The ovals should be on either side of the vertical construction line and have a bit of a diagonal orientation.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 4

Step 4: Below the eyes and under the horizontal construction line, draw a guide for Darwin Watterson’s mouth. The shape of the guide is similar to the letter D on its side.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 5

Step 5: Draw a series of arcs around the head as guides for Darwin Watterson’s hands and tail. The arc on the upper left side is longer than the other two. The arc on the lower right side, closest to the horizontal construction line, should be shorter and wider for the tail.

Step 6: Below the head, draw a long, thin rectangle with the top missing as a guide for Darwin Watterson’s feet. The length of the rectangle should be about the same as the height of the head.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 7

Step 7: Draw a line down the middle of the long rectangle to separate the two legs. On either side of the rectangle, at the bottom, draw an arc for Darwin Watterson’s feet.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 8

Step 8: That’s it for the initial sketch! You have the basic shape of Darwin Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. Now go in and tighten your drawing. From this point on, press harder with your pencil in order to get darker lines and a more defined sketch.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 9

Step 9: Darken the ovals that make up Darwin Watterson’s eyes. Inside each eye, draw a similar-looking but smaller oval for the pupils and shade them in.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 10

Step 10: Draw three small lines at the top of each eye for the eyelashes. Above each eye, draw a shape that looks like a long, thin oval on its side and shade it in for Darwin Watterson’s eyebrows.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 11

Step 11: Use the initial D shape as a guide to draw the mouth. Make the sides of the shape bend more as you follow the path of the D. Curve the corners of the D on top to make Darwin Watterson’s mouth rounder. Draw a curved line inside for the tongue of this The Amazing World of Gumball character.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 12

Step 12: Use the original oval as a guide to draw the head. Draw an arc that comes out of the lower left side of the head for his cheek. Notice the the upper right side of the head is thinner than the original oval. Use the the eyebrows as guides to draw the top line of Darwin Watterson’s head.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 13

Step 13: Use the initial arcs as guides to draw Darwin Watterson’s hands and tail. Bend the arm on the left a bit more as you darken it. Draw two small lines inside the tail to make it more of a fin.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 14

Step 14: Draw the outline of of the legs and feet by using the initial rectangle and arcs as guides. Make the top of Darwin Watterson’s legs a tiny bit thinner than the bottom.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 15

Step 15: Draw a few lines inside the feet as the top edges of the shoes and as the front portion of the shoes. On the lower corner of each shoe, near the line in the middle, draw a small oval as extra detail on Darwin Watterson’s shoes.

Step 16: That’s it! You now have a nice sketch of a Darwin Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball. You can stop at this quick drawing for a rough, sketchy look, or continue to the step below to go for a more finished look.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step 17

Step 17: For a more finished, inked look, carefully draw over the final sketch lines with a pen or marker. Wait for the ink to dry, and then erase your pencil marks. You now have a finished inked drawing of Darwin Watterson! You can stop here or go to the final step to complete your Darwin drawing in its entirety.

How to Draw Darwin Watterson Step Last

Step Last: For a completely finished Darwin Watterson drawing, you have to color it. You can use anything you want: markers, color pencils or even crayons! Darwin's main color is orange. If you'd like, you can draw a sausage-like shape on the upper right side of his head with yellow-orange to represent shine. You can also add red-orange near the base of Darwin's hands and legs as shading. The top, tip and ovals on the shoes are light yellow, and the actual shoes are yellow-green. That’s it! You now have a completed drawing of Darwin Watterson from Cartoon Network's The Amazing World of Gumball.
